Have your own snowshoes? Take advantage of your safe, scenic and snowy parks this coming winter. Or if not, don’t let that stop you!

Please enjoy perusing the resources below, including information about snowshoe borrowing at The West Woods Nature Center.

Snowshoe Borrowing Guidelines

You’ll know when The West Woods is ready for snowshoeing by the few inches of snow is on the ground. As a rule of thumb: the deeper the snow, the better for any snowshoe adventure.

  1. Watch our Facebook or Twitter accounts each fall for the announcement that snowshoe borrowing is back for the season. In 2020, rentals are still free for Geauga County residents, while out-of-county residents can enjoy snowshoes for only $5 (credit card only).
  2. Snowshoes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A call to 440-286-9516 may be made to check availability, but no reservations be taken.
  3. Borrowers must be 18+ to check out a pair; anyone younger must be accompanied by an adult. New snowshoes available for kid 3-6 years old, under 50 lbs.  A signed waiver form and leave a driver’s license as a security deposit are required to borrow equipment
  4. Snowshoes may not leave The West Woods except for registered programs. Borrowing can take place any time daily 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and last up to two hours. All snowshoes should be returned to the nature center by 4 p.m. Enjoy!
